Augusta, ME was a fairly normal capitol, but I got to learn some cool things I didn’t know before. Did you know that Maine actually separated from Massachusetts in 1820?! Super cool. The building was designed by the same guy who designed the US capitol building (Charles Bulfinch of Boston) and took about 3 years to build which is kinda short compared to some capitols. Built in 1832 it cost \$139,000… That’s almost \$2 billion in today’s dollars. The rest of Augusta was kind of dismal. There wasn’t much around so I didn’t end up staying long.
