Capitol
Concord was such a super cute town. Their state house was fun to walk through. It is one of the oldest state houses still in use so everything was super old. Not only that, but the legislature themselves were super friendly. When I got to the capitol the legislature were all hanging around and I eve got to randomly talk to a few of them. It was super cool! The weirdest part was that the legislature here doesn’t really get paid much. Each senator/representative makes roughly \$100/year. That’s so crazy! Makes sense since they are such a small state, but still weird to think about. I know California would never be able to adopt that model due to the way we need our legislature to work, but it’s still fun to think about. Not only that, but they have only 24 senators and 400 representatives! (More than any other state!) That must be super nice cause each rep represents 3,000 people so they have a very good feel for what their community wants. While here I also heard about a guy who was doing exactly what I was doing! He’s going to every continental state capitol except he is doing something different than I. He is doing it with 22 passport books and is getting each one stamped for his friends. So weird! But kinda cool that I’m not the only one crazy enough to do a sprint like this.
The city itself was very quaint. I stopped by a chocolate shop that was closing down (and for good reason. The chocolate was nasty and the owner’s attitude was not very pleasant). Afterward I went to The crust \& crumb company for some tea and I also grabbed my first ever whoopie pie. It was so delish! Although I probably gained weight just looking at that thing. It was super delish though.
