Road trip
While in Floriday I just had to stop by Jacksonville in order to check out their science museum that I had heard so much about. I didn't get to explore Jacksonville, but the museum was a lot of fun. They had a whole exhibition on race and how we as humans perceive race. It was very eye opening and well worth seeing. It was put on by the American Anthropological Association. Some of the things it went over was how by looking at someone we make quick assumptions about them that might not be accurate. One of the things that quickly pops into my mind is the whole concept that if you see someone who doesn't look white and/or black then you automatically might assume they have an accent, but that is not necessarily the case if the person was born in the states. It was very exciting to have my assumptions questioned and I think I walked out a better person with my eyes more open.
They also had a really nice planetarium which had quite a few programs although it was my second least favorite planetarium since they didn't lower the lights enough for you to actually see the stars very clearly. I think I've come to the conclusion that digital planetariums are the worst kind. Hopefully one of them will prove me wrong.
